2007 General Grants Awarded

 

The Foundation maintains a small reserve fund for making grants outside of its three program areas.  These grants give the Foundation the opportunity to support worthy initiatives that are consistent with our objectives but do not neatly fit into any one of our program areas.  The following is a list of the general fund grants made in 2007.

 

Centre for Aboriginal Media

in support of the ImagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival.

Community Social Planning Council

$500

on behalf of an advisory committee member.

Homes First Foundation

$40,000

general program support.

Hustler Young Men's Bible Class Foundation

$10,000

general program support.

Laidlaw Foundation

$3,000

in support of the Canadian Youth Arts Network.

Lewa Canada (year 2 of 2)

$50,000

in support of conservation and community development in Kenya.

Multistory Complex

$25,000

to support the Street Food Vending Project aimed at diversifying street food in Toronto and integrating street food vending into food security programming.

Muttart Foundation

$3446

to suport the costs of intervention at the Supreme Court of Canada on a precedent setting case of charity law in Canada.

Peacebuilders International

$10,000

general program support.

Philanthropic Foundations Canada

$5,000

to support their Leadership Research Project.

Rolph Road Public School

$1,000

a matching grant in support of the Grade 6 philanthropy project.

Scarborough Hospital Foundation

$750

on behalf of an advisory committee member.

Seeds of Diversity

$25,000 (year 2 of 3)

in support of their new Pollination Canada program, the Seeds Exchange Directory, and office staff support.

St. Christopher House

$750

on behalf of an advisory committee member.

The Art Gallery of Ontario

$20,000

for the installation of more than 5,000 works of art into 110 new galleries in the building.

The Catalyst Centre

on behalf of an advisory committee member.
