2005 General Grants Awarded

The Foundation annually directs a small portion of funds to charities that are outside the Foundation's program goals and objectives. Typically, organizations are invited to apply for support. Organizations that have historical and long-standing relationships to the Foundation are included in this category. In 2005, the following grants were approved:

Friends of the Canadian War Museum Ottawa, Ontario – $200,000

(partial payment of a multi-year grant)
To establish and digitize the archive collection at the Museum's new facility

Hustler Young Men's Bible Class Foundation Toronto, Ontario – $10,000

General Support

Writers' Trust of Canada Toronto, Ontario – $50,000

In support of the Vicky Metcalf Award for Children's Literature

Seeds of Diversity Canada Toronto, Ontario – $25,000

In support of organizational capacity building

The Walrus Foundation Toronto, Ontario – $300,000

In support of the internship program at The Walrus magazine

Toronto Artscape Foundation Toronto, Ontario – $40,000

To support the Foundation’s start-up costs

The University of Toronto Toronto, Ontario – $50,000

A matching grant in support of the Hart House capital campaign
