2004 General grants awarded
The Foundation annually directs a small portion of funds to charities that are outside the Foundation's program goals and objectives. Typically, organizations are invited to apply for support. Organizations that have historical and long-standing relationships to the Foundation are included in this category. In 2004, the following grants were approved:
Cooper Institute Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island – $30,000
For community development work on food security issues
Friends of the Canadian War Museum Ottawa, Ontario – $150,000
(partial payment of a multi-year grant)
To establish and digitize the archive collection at the Museum's new facility
Hustler Young Men's Bible Class Foundation Toronto, Ontario – $10,000
General Support
Inner City Angels Toronto, Ontario – $1,500
In support of their 2004 Learning with Artists programs
Project Canoe Toronto, Ontario – $40,000
To strengthen their Leadership in Training and Interns programs
Writers' Trust of Canada Toronto, Ontario – $50,000
In support of the Vicky Metcalf Award for Children's Literature
